I met Bryan Waller the sales manager in Mississippi. Just a few minutes into this process my views of the company changed. Bryan said AKE was a faith based company, but you can have whatever God you like just have faith, he did add that he served Jesus. Directly following this statement he let us know the owner Allen was a Trump supporter and he too was a trump lover. He added if you don't have anything good to say about Trump keep your mouth shut. Obviously, due to such a statement I saw that he stood for the President more than he did for his God. A couple hours into the day Bryan informed us that he didn't eat lunch and wanted to push through to finish at 4 or 5. Bryan also made the statement that didn't do Nike or watch the NFL because of Kapernick and he wasn't going to support anyone who wouldn't stand up for our country. Being the only black person in there made me very uncomfortable with such a statement. I've spent 15 years in the US Army and have been overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. All soldiers take an oath to defend the US constitution and the 1st amendment allows every American the right to a peaceable protest. I told Bryan this and he stated that Kapernick could have picked a better time to do the protest. However, a protest should be constructed in a manner where you get the most publicity. I went on to say that I love God and if someone wanted to protest my relationship with God it was their right and I fought for them to do so. Bryan had showed pics of his Ford truck and called it his baby, to which I informed him that Ford endorsed Kapernick also. He said that makes him sick. Bryan also stated that when they went to farms they come with the notion of being trump loving and supporting and he said that oftentimes the farmers would welcome you from this stance, he added that if they didn't then they didn't want to do business with them anyway. Bryan asked me was I offended and I told him yes. He said he didn't want to offend anybody. But he didn't apologize. I told him that this job wasn't going to a good fit for me. I fell like the whole process was just to ensure that AKE was meeting a quota for giving blacks a chance. I'm still waiting on the package that was supposed to be here a couple days ago. I was going to send it back, but its apparent that it didn't get sent although I was informed by Katie that it was scheduled to be at my house Monday.

I completed a phone interview with Katie who was very professional and informative about expectations within the company and measures I would need to take to be successful. She is also proficient at following up with candidates. If this is the standard for the company, I can say it's a good organization to be a part of.

The girl on the phone who conducted the interview made no attempt to hide her criticism about how I am working a full time job while looking for another job. I am not from the area she was recruiting for, and she continued to tell me how hard this would be for someone not from the area and who does not know the farming industry.

Following a professional interview with Katie, I contacted the WV Farm Assoc. and found out that Stop Fire is reviewed and recommended as an excellent product. I am now hopeful I am selected to be a part of this team.

We discussed the product line knowledge that I had gathered from the website, my past work history, education, and success that I have done in my careers. I’m really interested in this unique product because I have been in some large industrial fires in my Petrochemical as a Process Operator who also was a Louisiana State Certified Fire Fighter trained at the Jefferson Parish Fire Training Center in Bridge City, LA., and I was a Deputy Sheriff for 8 years in Jefferson Parish I was involved in plenty fires! Right on time, I spoke with Katie in my phone interview process. It appears that they are on a very strict schedule so be prepared to make your points and questions happen efficiently. I think I may have surprised her with the amount of questions as she asked me at one point how many "more questions do you have?". I realize that this is a "screening" call and yet I feel there are some questions that are still unanswered. There were some questions I had asked in which Katie was not able to provide the answers. I don't think this was her fault; I believe that she was not privy the information in which I was asking. I admit, I was asking many pertinent and forward-thinking type questions that sought to see the direction of the products/company in the future. Halfway through the interview, it did occur to her that my state falls under a different jurisdiction than all of the others and, therefore, follows a different compensation plan. I'm glad that it came up otherwise I never would have found this information on the website. All in all, it was a fun and engaging interview. The only reason that I was asking such hard-charging questions is because I want to know if it's worth my time to come to headquarters(not to mention, commit my time and resources to engaging in the sale of their products). I think they have a phenomenal product and I want one for myself. My biggest concern is finding out that the extinguisher products are not recommended for some industries due to UL/Code restrictions. This could potentially deter a great amount of potential bulk business. Either way, I'm certainly interested in knowing more.

I would have loved to work for the company if it can expand to more products and more locations. I believe that a lot of companies can benefit from this product as well as household but only had a cheaper price for the house hold but it be a smaller device.

I think the sales goals need to be progressive and tailored to each area. The sales goals they have now are a bit unrealistic for the northeast. I am still interested in becoming a dealer because the product is a very interesting one.

As an entrepreneur with a long career history, you don't do many job interviews. I haven't had one in decades! Nervous, to say the least Mary Beth hung in there till I got on track and able to explain my career history. Overall, a good experience, I wanted to send a customary thank you email for the opportunity, but never received her email address. I called AEK - surprised nobody answered the phone. However, the pay structure you have in place prohibits me from showcasing my skills and ability to increase market share for AKE across a broad spectrum of potential customers. It is a shame you are limiting your sales talent to I'm sure a limited few due to the pay structure in place.
